         Thursday evening, January 6, the sounds of a 3 piece jazz band, food and refreshments welcomed the Treasure Coast State legislative delegation, Senator Ken Pruitt, Representatives Joe Negron, and Gayle Harrell along with the St. Lucie County Commissioners, Joseph Smith, Paula Lewis, and Francine Hutchinson, and St. Lucie County Tax Collector, Bob Davis, to a reception on the veranda of the County Courthouse honoring these elected officials for their contribution in funding our Treasure Coast courts and law libraries.  SLCBA co-sponsored the event with Friends of the Law Library and the Pt St Lucie Bar. Speakers included Chief Judge of the 19th Circuit William Roby; State Senator Ken Pruitt, State Representative Joe Negron, and Saint Lucie County Commissioner Francine Hutchinson. Judges in attendance along with the Honorable William Roby were the Honorable Ben Bryan, Circuit Judge, and the Honorable Rupert J. Smith, Circuit Judge, retired.

       On January 26, 2005 Judge Cynthia Cox will be holding a seminar  on “Case Law & Legislative Update, Rules of Professional Conducts & Bounds of Advocacy”.

       The event will take place in Courtroom J of St. Lucie County Courthouse in Fort Pierce from 2:15 p.m. to

4:00 p.m.

       If there are any specific topics or issues you would like discussed, please notify Judge Cox.

       Also, don’t forget to bring your e-mail address and self-addressed, stamped envelopes. The seminar is an excellent opportunity to earn 2.00 hours toward a

CLE credit.
